Chasitie Brown

Chasitie Brown is a doctoral student in the department of Art History at the University of Texas at Austin. She specializes in contemporary Caribbean and Latin American art with a focus on Cuba. Her research examines how Black consciousness ideologies informed visual culture and collective art practices in Cuba during the 1970s, a period when the country was particularly active in the African Liberation movement. She received her MA in Art History at Tulane University (2019), and BA from Southern Methodist University (2016).
