Tam is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Mathematics at Rice University. His current research focus is on the relationship between the profinite group theory and the topology of 3-manifolds. He is also interested in geometric group theory and the theory of arithmetic hyperbolic manifolds. Before coming to Rice, he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of Texas at Austin (2018) with High Honors.
